A careful restoration of a Boulton and Paul greenhouses, probably dating from the turn of the last century. Boulton and Paul were an important manufacturer based in Norwich. As well as greenhouses, they constructed pre-facricated buildings, boats and planes including the huts for Scott’s Antarctic Expedition. The project included de-glazing, the repair of original timbers and ironmongery, re-glazing, and decorated using traditional linseed oil paint. The floor was also paved, and new robust staging constructed.
Modern uPVC guttering was replaced with cast gutters, downpipes, and new oak water butts, restoring the greenhouse’s heritage look and functionality.
